Developing Solid Client Relationships through Communication
In a world full of uncertainties and an ever-changing business climate, it is essential that customers view your business as stable and reliable, no matter what the business is! Listed, are some key marketing points to review for your company that may help to maintain or to serve as the beginning of an image-building campaign and open a line of communication with your clients.
Make sure you have a mailing list that is updated frequently and can be accessed easily from a database by zip code for direct mail pieces. Make sure you have current contact names/titles for editors and others you are sending to. Distributing well-written, timely press releases with an attached photograph, on a regular basis is recommended. Make sure the information is of value to not only your target market, but to the general public. Product information, tips in the industry, and inside activity such as job promotions, award recognition, and new staff appointments are generally well-received.
A simple quarterly printed or e-newsletter to current and prospective clients is a nice way to keep in touch, just make sure to adhere to a regular schedule - sending it out inconsistently and with outdated information will send the wrong message. If you have an interested employee, ask him/her to write articles, or be a guest speaker at in-house or community events. This will reflect nicely on your business and in the community.
Keep your image updated. A refined logo, updating company profiles, changing website graphics and photos can all play a part in refreshing an image and spur a renewed interest.
Review your current advertising campaign and make sure it is in tune with today's market. If not reviewed by a professional, sometimes just an objective opinion is needed to see if your ads are becoming "stale". Review the effectiveness of your established advertising and marketing campaign, making sure it is still results driven, cost-effective and what your audience is asking for. You may want to explore other innovative and creative avenues for utilizing your advertising budget-as there are many out there!
Assign some time for reflection. Companies often don't have the time to focus on advertising and maintaining communication when their principals are busy running the business! Marketing and advertising should be reviewed almost weekly to keep a positive, memorable company image in plain view of potential customers.
